You can help by encouraging your
amenity society to join the Federation and nominate a representative to
contribute local information and help run the Federation affairs. Officers
are voluntary, with the exception of a paid secretary and occasional
outsourced assistance. There is complete flexibility as to the amount of
time that a volunteer gives. We understand the demands of work, family and
other commitments and only ask volunteers to contribute as much as they
feel able. We also understand that some people are only able to contribute
remotely by telephone or internet and do not have the time to attend
face-to-face meetings.
For finance we rely on
subscriptions of member societies, sales of insurance and donations from
friends. The Federation is very grateful for every donation it receives
and is particularly encouraged by bequests or legacies from well-wishers
to broaden the scope of its work.
The annual subscription is £25
and includes a newsletter three times per year. Articles for inclusion can
be emailed to the Secretary: fosasinfo@googlemail.com. Details of events are published in the newsletter.
Each year, Federation officers
visit as many societies as possible, to visibly demonstrate concern for
individual member society issues giving advice and support where
necessary.
